Lydia is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who works with patients and their families to help them understand the disease of addiction in a way that breeds forgiveness, understanding and trust. Lydia believes that an increase in knowledge and awareness around the disease of addiction will lead to a decrease in stigma, confusion and hurt, and risk of relapse. Lydia has worked with a number of populations throughout the mental health and substance abuse treatment field. Her time in the juvenile justice system working with adolescents as well as at a state run psychiatric facility has provided her with solid understanding and experience treating those impacted by developmental trauma and co-occurring disorders. This allows her to train others to work in a trauma informed care setting with increased awareness of triggers, trauma reactivity and skillful de-escalation techniques. Lydia holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts. She graduated with distinction with a specialization is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Children and Families.
